Miss Twisted had been talking for weeks about going see this at the cinema with one of her horror buddies... But perhaps she spoke about it a little too much because as its cinema release date grew nearer, the rest of the family got keener.
Yep, you guessed it! Mum's night out became a family's scary cinema trip!!
Wow! My first scary movie at a cinema! I'm so excited, but nervous too!
Twisted Man Thing:
I'm really surprised this is only a PG-13 rating
Miss Twisted:
Well if there is are no sexual scenes or drugs references etc then its seems only fair to allow kids to be seen as individuals with different boundaries
Twisted Teen:
This does look so scary though doesn't it? Just the trailer they have been showing on TV makes me nearly poop my pants!
Miss Twisted:
Yeah I agree it does, but for example, when I was a kid I would never have been able to watch a movie like this. Not until my teens, but you guys are just odd.
Twisted Teen:
I just think times have changed
Twisted Man Thing:
yeah with the internet, hundreds of TV channels and more relaxed schools I guess you guys do see a lot more than we did
Twisted Kid:
I want to sit between mum and dad
Twisted Teen:
Aww are you scared?
Twisted Kid:
Yeah, a bit...
Twisted Teen:
Me too haha let me squeeze in next to you, between them too!
Twisted Teen: That was brilliant!! The scariest film I have ever seen!
Twisted Man Thing: Yeah it had that old school terror thing going on
Miss Twisted: A very well done movie effects and impact wise. They would make you jump when least expected, which not many can do now! Then you wouldn't jump when you thought you were gonna...
Twisted Man Thing: And then sometimes you knew it was supposed to be coming, but cos of their clever tricks before that you don't really know if you will or not
Miss Twisted: And then you do haha!
Twisted Teen: You guys are confusing me!
Twisted Kid: That film was really really scary! Gave me a tingly feeling all over!
Miss Twisted: I saw your hands come up to your face a few times!
Twisted Man Thing: I have to be honest and say even I jumped and felt nervous a few times.
Miss Twisted: I just wish the script had gone the way it did though...
Twisted Teen: Why? It was awesome!
Miss Twisted: To you kiddo's yeah, but for us adults we've kinda seen all this sort of thing before
Twisted Man Thing: It did remind me of Poltergeist in a few places
Miss Twisted: Yep! And then it also mirrored The Cell every now and again
Twisted Man Thing: I thought the acting was great though
Miss Twisted: Oh yeah it was, the whole film was great, it just related itself to too many classics
Twisted Teen: I can't wait to see this with my mates, they are gonna love it!
Twisted Kid: I think I need to watch another film before bed so I don't think about this one as much
Miss Twisted: No problem kiddo we'll all sit and watch something fun to round off the night
THE TWISTED FAMILY VERDICT:
4/5 - Something we will buy when the DVD or Blu-Ray is released!
Insidious made me feel like a lot of films did back in my teens. There were a few moments when I really was scared. Wow I haven't said that for a long time! On the down side the last 30 or 40 minutes weren't as good as they could have been.
Certainly a good one, like I said it did turn into something we have seen many times before, which was disappointing as it started with so much promise, but hey I guess ghosts and demons can only do so much right?
I would recommend parents need to talk with their kids before and after watching this, just to make the lines between film and reality very clear. My two loved it and although the youngest did get really scared he was fine afterwards because he understood that it is just a movie.
Twisted Kid:
That was definitely really really scary, but I think it was mainly because we were sat in the dark watching a massive screen. I did enjoy myself though! Looking forward to watching it again at home in a few months.
I though that was amazing. Seriously I can't say anything bad!
