Twisted kid chose this weeks movie:
I love seeing fairy tales turned into films. They are never the same as I have imagined in my head, but I still really like them! I think Little Red Riding Hood is one of the scarier fairy tales, so I'm hoping it makes a good family horror movie.
Looks like a nice gothic fantasy style film... Not sure how it will deliver itself as a horror
Twisted Kid:
Well a wolf terrorizing a village seems pretty scary to me!
Twisted Teen:
Its not a normal wolf, that would be too easy to get rid of, its a werewolf. That's cooler!
Twisted Man Thing:
The thing bothering me is the lead female... Isn't she the one in a bunch of love films?
Miss Twisted:
Yeah it is her, but I'm hoping she has stepped out of the romantic stereo type for this one
Twisted Teen:
I like that its set in the 1300's. Should be some good medieval fight scenes.
Twisted Kid:
Yeah that's what I thought!
Twisted Teen: *sigh* Just another stupid love story!
Twisted Man Thing: Yep I agree! There were maybe two action scenes and they weren't great
Miss Twisted: I didn't think too much of the story, but visually I loved it! All those deep rustic colours and then her bright red cape. Wow that was a great effect
Twisted Man Thing: But its supposed to be a movie not a flipping photograph!
Twisted Kid: The werewolf was pretty scary
Twisted Teen: Yeah the effects weren't bad
Twisted Kid: And I thought it was really cool that everyone she knew had brown eyes and could have been the wolf!
Miss Twisted: Yeah that was a nice touch, but this is certainly no horror.
Twisted Teen: Agreed.
THE TWISTED FAMILY VERDICT:
2/5 - Hmm... Let's put it in a box and forget about it for a couple of years.
You know when you watch a film and you just 'know' its been directed by a woman? Well, this is one of those movies. Everything was just that little bit too soft and gentle. If they had taken it up a notch they would probably have succeeded. Usually I am warning people how a movie may be too much for family viewing, but this is way over at the other end of the scale, because its just not enough to keep them interested.
I don't think I will remember very much about this film, which is disappointing because it is a strong cast who played their parts very well, but they were let down by the movie itself.
Twisted Kid:
I thought it was good, but I probably wouldn't watch it often.
Its not something I would watch again, but I did get a great new high score on my mobile phone game!
