I love these so called 'creature features', always have done and they seem to work really well as family films. This one appealed to me because although the synopsis makes me think of Lake Placid, the characters and storyline don't, so I'm hoping for a completely different croc experience.
Cool a killer crocodile movie!!
Twisted Teen:
Yeah the trailer looks pretty good. Looks more realistic that many of these kind of films.
Twisted Man Thing:
I'm just praying for decent special effects! If I see anything mechanical looking, I'm turning it right off.
Miss Twisted:
Ooh no pressure then?! haha!
Twisted Man Thing:
Nope none at all really ha! Well, it isn't much to ask really is it? I want an animal that looks like a croc, not a robot or a puppet with someone's hand up its backside...
Twisted Teen:
Yeah I agree, some of these type of movies are ruined by things like that.
Miss Twisted:
Or sometimes its the other way round, great special effects, but terrible acting or plot.
Twisted Man Thing:
Well to be fair most creature feature story lines are pretty ridiculous. Animals just wouldn't do half of the things these films make out they do.
Twisted Teen:
You would be surprised what some can actually do if you watched some of those discovery channel documentaries
Twisted Kid:
When do you ever watch any of those?!
Miss Twisted:
Ok its starting guys so sit and zip..!
Twisted Teen: How awesome was that?!
Twisted Kid: I want to watch it again! Now!
Twisted Man Thing: It was pretty impressive wasn't it? Once it got going..
Twisted Teen: Yeah I agree it was a little slow to start
Miss Twisted: Well the action was a little slow to start, but I loved how they gave you so much info on crocodiles. Their behaviour and intellect is really interesting.
Twisted Kid: Yeah I never knew they could jump out of the water like that!
Twisted Teen: Or feel movements through vibrations in the water
Miss Twisted: I didn't know that they planned out their hunt like that, always just assumed they grabbed what they could when they had the chance, but its all so worked out and premeditated!
Twisted Man Thing: I am so impressed with the actual crocodile. I had a hard time accepting it wasn't a real one. Really was done so well.
Miss Twisted: The only thing that I didn't like with this movie was the annoying music. It was really ill fitting and misplaced all the way through.
Twisted Man Thing: Trust you to pick up on something like that
Miss Twisted: Well music can make or break a movie, luckily other sound effects saved them here, but the music really was terrible.
Twisted Kid: I thought that silly song at the end was really creepy!
Twisted Teen: Yeah I know its a kids song, but it made it seem really eerie! Would have been stupid though if they had played it before the credits
Twisted Man Thing: The acting was superb, I really cared about some characters, whilst others I just wanted to hit!
Twisted Kid: Or just throw them to the crocodile!
Twisted Teen: Ooh yeah some of them would have made great bait!
Miss Twisted: Remind me to avoid such life threatening circumstances when I'm with you guys ok?
Twisted Man Thing: But we would never be stupid enough to go that far up river in the first place!
Miss Twisted: That's true.
THE TWISTED FAMILY VERDICT:
4/5 - Let's keep this one on the dvd unit in the living room!!
It really was a great all rounder with something for all. There are several gorey scenes and quite a few jumpy parts, but none of them are disturbing. This is a great way to teach kids (and adults) about the perils of nature too! Its certainly given me some useful info that may come in handy one day! Although I would be more than happy if it just stays in my head as useless trivia that I never need to use!!
I love Rogue. Its exactly what I look for when choosing a film. I laughed, jumped and felt so many different emotions it really was a great experience. Definitely something I would recommend to people and watch often myself.
Twisted Kid:
Wow this was just so cool! I don't think I could ever get bored of this one.
I couldn't have asked for anymore from this movie, admittedly I did think it took a little time to get started, but thinking about it now it really wasn't. They were just setting the right stage and atmosphere for what was to come. If they hadn't given us that initial build up then later scenes wouldn't have been half as tense.
