Who decided on this weeks film?
We all decided to watch The Mist as this weeks family horror movie as it was being shown on tv at the perfect time! The advert appealed to each of us.
Well its been a little while since we were treated to a Stephen King
Twisted Teen:
Oh no its not an old fashioned one is it?
Miss Twisted:
Nope, younger than you guys.
Twisted Kid:
So what is it about? Mist? Will it be like The Fog then?
Twisted Man Thing:
This has creatures in the mist apparently and people have to hide in a supermarket
Twisted Kid:
Wow that would be expensive
Twisted Teen:
You wouldn't have to pay you wally! Would you dad?
Twisted Man Thing:
Wouldn't have thought so
Miss Twisted:
Would you actually care about money if there were weird creatures trying to get you??
Twisted Man Thing:
Yes
Twisted Teen:
Yep
Twisted Kid:
If I didn't have much then yes I would
Twisted Teen: Boooorrrrriiiiiinnnnnggggg!
Miss Twisted: Really? Oh I liked it
Twisted Kid: My bum is numb!
Twisted Man Thing: Yeah it was ok, I enjoyed it, but I wouldn't watch it often
Miss Twisted: How come?
Twisted Man Thing: Well the main reason it was good was because you didn't know what to expect... Next time I would know
Twisted Kid: I liked the creature parts but it was boring in between
Twisted Man Thing: Yeah I agree. Very Stephen King style, too long!
Miss Twisted: Yes it was long, I thought it was done well though
Twisted Man Thing: Yeah the effects were ok
Miss Twisted: Not just that, the whole thing. What about the acting?
Twisted Man Thing: Well it wasn't really challenging stuff was it?
Twisted Teen: I wanted to throw a tin of peas at that woman though!
Twisted Kid: Yeah me too!
Twisted Man Thing: I didn't like the ending
Twisted Teen: Yeah man it was really harsh!
Twisted Kid: why was it? You didn't see anything! It happened off screen.
Miss Twisted: I thought the ending was what saved it? Come on guys you're not being very fair...
Twisted Teen: What's there to be fair about? It was rubbish!
Twisted Man Thing: it was a pretty common story line, nothing new.
Twisted Kid: I wouldn't watch it again. Unless you paid me...
THE TWISTED FAMILY VERDICT:
2/5 ok we can store it in a box and forget about it for a year or two!!
I think this movies biggest downfall is that its a very simple plot that has been stretched way too much purely, it seems, to gain extra minutes. Shorter and faster would have been so much better. Why is it whenever a Stephen King book is adapted they seem to go for quantity over quality?
Plenty of action, monsters in the mist, giant creatures attacking a supermarket, people arguing, fighting and dividing... What more could you want from a horror movie? I really don't get these guys this week. I admit it was a little lengthy, but it was certainly not a chore to watch. If you like your movies on the back burner sometimes, then this is something I would recommend you check out... Just make sure everyone is in an agreeably mellow mood before hitting that 'play' button!
Twisted Teen:
Going by the synopsis and advert this should have been a really fun movie... But it wasn't. For some reason it just didn't come together right. There were a few decent parts to it, a couple of jumps and butt clenchers, but you are waiting around for so long for a little excitement that by the time you get it, its just not enough to satisfy.
Twisted Kid:
This may have been ok if it was a lot shorter. The action scenes were good, but they were spread out too far with loads of boring stuff in between.
